Paul was signed as a youngster and he came through the ranks at Fir Park. He was lucky enough to survive when the club went into administration at the end of season 2001/02. His debut came against Celtic at Parkhead where a very young 'Well side were defeated 3-1, he came on as a subsitute. Within weeks he made a further 2 more appearances playing in two 1-1 draws against Dundee and Aberdeen, both of which were away games.
